Homemade Orange Chicken: Tangy, Sweet, and Irresistible
Ingredients:
1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
1 cup cornstarch
2 large eggs, beaten
Vegetable oil, for frying
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon orange zest
1/2 teaspoon ginger, minced
1/2 teaspoon garlic, minced
Green onions, for garnish
Cooked rice, for serving
Directions:
Place the bite-sized chicken pieces in a bowl and coat them evenly with cornstarch.
Dip each cornstarch-coated chicken piece into the beaten eggs, ensuring they are well-coated.
Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or saucepan over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken pieces until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
In a separate bowl, whisk together orange juice, granulated sugar, white vinegar, soy sauce, cornstarch, orange zest, minced ginger, and minced garlic.
Pour the orange sauce mixture into a saucepan and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Cook until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
Toss the crispy chicken pieces in the orange sauce until they are coated.
Garnish with chopped green onions and serve the homemade orange chicken over cooked rice.
