Homemade Heath Bars

Ingredients:

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup finely chopped toasted almonds (or your choice of nuts)
Instructions:

Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a 9×13-inch baking sheet or pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal later.

Melt Butter: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the granulated sugar and salt.

Boil and Stir: Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Continue boiling and stirring for about 6-7 minutes until it turns a deep golden brown color. Be careful not to burn it.

Remove from Heat: Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

Pour Mixture: Pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, spreading it out evenly with a spatula.

Add Chocolate Chips: Sprinkle the semisweet chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee. Let them sit for a minute or two until they begin to melt, then spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee layer with a spatula.

Sprinkle Nuts: Sprinkle the finely chopped toasted almonds (or your choice of nuts) evenly over the melted chocolate.

Chill: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours, or until the toffee and chocolate are firm.

Break into Pieces: Once fully set, remove the toffee from the pan by lifting it out with the parchment paper overhang. Place it on a cutting board and use a sharp knife to break it into bite-sized pieces.

Serve and Enjoy: Your homemade Heath Bars are ready to enjoy! Store any leftovers in an airtight container.
